Room 12 superheros.

This term we have been talking a lot about being superheroes, not the sort that fly or climb steep buildings but the heroes we all can be. We can be heroes by always doing our best, by not giving up when things get hard, by showing compassion to others, by being great thinkers and problem solvers. After a busy term here we all are, Room 12's own superheroes...

Congratulations to the duathlon winners!

Room 12 did really well in last weeks duathlon. Today at assembly the winners were presented with their certificates. We managed to get 1st Year 1 boys, 1st Year 1 girls and 3rd Year 1 girls! Well done to everyone who participated and a special congratulations to our winners.

Our new maths rocks are a hit!

This week we had fun with our new 'maths' rocks, painted and donated by Jackson's mum.  We have found all sorts of ways to use them in our learning. Each rock is numbered and has the appropriate dot pattern on the 'wings'.

                                                                            

Here we are putting them in order from 1-10. We are racing to see who can sort and order them the fastest.

Our rocks are great for skip counting in two's...

..and for practicing counting backwards from 10...

...and for helping us to order a small group of numbers, from smallest to biggest.

Next week we will use them to look at doubles to 10, making 5 and making 10.
